Dear Members and Friends of the UIS-Pseudokarst Commission We are pleased to inform you that, according to the decision of the majority of the Commission members (meaning all members expresssing their opinion in this matter), Mr WILLIAM R. HALLIDAY is designated an HONORARY MEMBER of the UIS Pseudokarst Commission. Mr Halliday (born 1926), the oldest member of this Commission, is the famous American speleologist (NSS member since 1947) and caver, who explored many karst, non-karst and volcanic (lave tube) caves. He is also an author and co-author of many publications: cave documentations and maps, cave studies, syntheses and encyclopedic descriptions, among wich are also the analyses of Martian pseudokarst. He summarized his view of the pseudokarst phenomena thoroughly in his paper „Pseudokarst in the 21st Century“ (https://caves.org/pub/journal/PDF/v69/cave-69-01-103.pdf). His papers have been published in some issues of Pseudokarst Commission Newsletter, too. Despite the progress in a disease, he is still active member of the Commission. Being very grateful for his contributions to the activeness of the Pseudokarst Commission, we wish all the best to Bill Halliday!
