From: Jan Urban 3. April 2021 Pseudokarst Symposium and Newsletter Dear Members and Friends of the Pseudokarst Commission Following the postponement of the 18th International Congress of Speleology in France to the summer 2022, the Organising Committee of the 14th International Symposium on Pseudokarst decided to postpone this meeting to the spring 2022. There are several reasons of this decision, such as: translation of many speleological activities to the next year, minor interest in online meeting deprived of field sessions, difficult pandemic situation which limits even activities necessary to held online meeting. Consequently, we propose to organize this Symposium in the next year in hybrid form: in Chęciny, Poland, as it was formerly planned and transmitted online for all participants (active and passive) who will not be able to come to Chęciny (there are many such potential participants). So, the next communicate concerning the Pseudokarst symposium will be distributed in October 2021. Nevertheless, the Pseudokarst Commission is obliqued to keep normal activity, therefore we are ready to publish the 30th issue of the Pseudokarst Newsletter. Since this is no. 30, and terminological problem of “pseudokarst” has been again discussed, and – furthermore – we are celebrating the International Year of Caves and Karst, we (editors) want to prepare special edition of this journal, having the motto: “Pseudokarst all over the World”. This issue will be widely distributed not only among cavers but it should reach general public promoting landforms and caves, which are usually considered to be far from “caves and speleology” – non-karst, probably-karst, possibly-karst, partly-karst, more-or-less-karst, karst-like caves and other landforms. This issue will contain short papers (1-3 A4 pages), describing in clear, commonly understood language (obviously English) pseudokarst phenomena from various regions and continents, richly illustrated. Consequently you all, but principally the members of the Commission, who provided photos for IYCK, are warmly invited to submit such manuscripts. The suggested term of manuscript submission is May 2021, but all Authors planning to submit such materials are gently asked to submit applications determining provisional titles and proposing the terms to the address: rudolf.pavuza@nhm-wien.ac.at or urban@iop.krakow.pl . We hope to have very interesting and picturesque publication, which will raise awareness of the idea of pseudokarst in wide public. We wish you all the best for Easter!
